GYTAGYTAUTAS CILINSKAS · ACTOR · IMPROVISER · STORYTELLER
I haven't graduated from a professional acting school, and I have no interest in pretending that I already know the film world. But acting is one of those dreams that never really disappeared.
Profile
Characters I'm drawn to
A strong man with a vulnerable side
Authority that holds — until something it cannot control walks in.
A calm man with something to hide
Quiet and practical, carrying more than he says out loud.
Someone you can't decide whether to trust
A father trying to reconnect with his children. A man you read twice.
Background
The camera is familiar. Screen acting is new.
I was born on March 27 — World Theatre Day. After school I seriously considered studying acting, but at the time I chose what seemed like the safer road: engineering and computer science, then international business and law.
During my studies I discovered theatre improvisation. I trained and performed, later created my own improvisation programme and travelled to schools around Lithuania with it. I ran a private improv club and gradually began using improvisation in my professional life — with people, on stage, and in situations where there simply is no script.
For more than twenty years my work in international business has regularly placed me in front of audiences and cameras. I host events, have appeared in commercials and television, speak on camera and create my own content. I also created and hosted the podcast Tikras žmogus — Real Human — while building the Davines community in Lithuania and developing Davines Ferma with my team.
At 43, I realised I no longer want to wonder what might have happened if I had chosen acting all those years ago. I simply want to find out what I can do with it now. Most of all, I don't want to define all of my characters myself — I want a director to see something in me that I may not have discovered yet.
